The University of West Florida is not your average university. Tucked away in the beautiful corner of Northwest Florida, UWF may be small, but its impact on students—and teachers—is anything but.
After the launch of the university’s master plan, the Vice President and Provost, Dr. Martha Saunders, approached idgroup to help tell the story of the university through the eyes of its teachers. Having started her career in education and administration at the university herself, she sought to communicate the impact professors are making not just in their students’ lives, but also their own: as research scholars and practitioners. As a result, idgroup developed the Make Your Mark recruitment campaign as a means of targeting potential faculty to the university, specifically, those seeking more rewarding and fulfilling career opportunities.
In many university settings, professors rarely have the opportunity to both teach and conduct research. In most cases, they are given the opportunity for one or the other. At the University of West Florida, teachers are given the opportunity and support to be teacher-scholars: professors who leverage their research to teach their students, and encourage their students to participate in research.
The Make Your Mark campaign launched in June of 2016 and included custom photography, print and online advertising, and a highly interactive website landing page that features 2:00-minute long video segments on each featured professor.
